Garden makeover

Over winter people tend to think what DIY is needed within their home, like a lick of paint or new carpeting, but as we enter into spring there is probably another area that needs a spring makeover, your garden! Spring is a great time for a garden make over because most improvements you make now you will most likely be able to enjoy this summer.

If your garden has been neglected for some time one of the first things you will probably need to do is de-clutter, remove anything you don’t need, anything is dead and anything that is broken, also try to remember to recycle as much as possible. Overgrown vegetation can either be composted or if there is a lot taken to be recycled at your local refuse centre, any old toys or garden equipment that is still okay but no longer needed can be sold or if it’s had it, it also can be taken to your refuse centre.

If you have a lawn after this long harsh winter may be in need of some TLC, although they can withstand a lot of damage it can eventually take its toll especially if it has become mainly a giant patch of weed. Sometimes your whole lawn may need replacing with some fresh, top quality turf, or if it’s salvageable it may just need a good layer of seeds and feed to get it green again!

Once your garden is clean and your lawn on its way you can decide if you need to put in some more plants to replace any you lost or fill up some space, if you have a patio area do any pots need filling or cleaning?  After your garden has had its own spring clean you can then decide if you need any new furniture or ornaments and then you can sit back, relax and enjoy!
