Jeans
Designed originally for durable work wear, jeans have made a transition from cowboy and mining uniform in the early 1900’s to a form of everyday casual clothing that most people have in their wardrobe now. They come in many shapes, styles and colours and range from high end designer clothing styles to cheaper rugged everyday wear.
You can buy various cuts of jeans for both men and women some include:
Baggy jeans
Boot cut jeans
Flared jeans
Skinny Jeans
Boy cut jeans
Straight cut jeans
These styles all depend on the cut of the leg, as well as cut you also get styles to fit such as:
High waist jeans
Low rise jeans
Relaxed jeans
As you can see there are many styles to choose from and that’s before you start looking at colour, traditionally jeans came in blue, dyed using indigo dye, this is still to this day one of the most popular colour to choose from, as well as black and white denim jeans. During the 1970’s denim colour was revolutionised by the introduction of ‘stone wash’ a technique for fronted by the Great Western Garment Company.
Today jeans are far more socially acceptable than they were in the early 1960’s and they have come a long way from their roots in the early 1900’s.
