The recently concluded National Ferry Fortnight event in the UK aimed to showcase the developments in ferry travel over the years. It focused on the advantages of riding a ferry instead of travelling by air or through the channel tunnel.
Among the companies that joined in the event was Stena Line. The company is reported to have invested more than £250m in its fleet recently to provide better customer services. With regular improvements to their ships many companies are attracting more users; many tourists now prefer taking a ferry for their crossing to mainland Europe.
Stena Line’s communication manager, Nigel Tilson, said that the increase in the number of travellers who ride the ferries shows how far the industry has progressed over the years. He also said that focus should be given to the new amenities and technological advancements that are being offered by ferry companies. Some of the new services include free Wi-Fi access, salon pampering, and varied food choices.
