Underfloor heating for your conservatory

Many people who have a conservatory find that they are a great additional room, especially in summer, as they are great sun traps and keep the heat, however when winter comes many people don’t tend to use them because they also keep in the cold. You can opt for free standing heaters or fit radiators however that can take up space and also they do not heat your room effectively, a good option is to have underfloor heating fitted, this can be done when your conservatory is being built or even placed after.

Conservatories are considered areas of high heat loss, many do not offer the same level of insulation found in the rest of your home and require being treated as a special case when planning heating requirements. You can get DIY underfloor heating or you can have someone come in and fit it for you, there are two options, water underfloor heating and electric underfloor heating. Water underfloor heating require pipes to be fitted within the screeded sub-floor and plumbed either directly into the heating system or into the house boiler. Electric underfloor heating is easy and straightforward to install and has no moving parts, it is usually connected via a dedicated supply direct from the consumer unit and is controlled with its own independent thermostat.

Both types of underfloor heating can be installed under many different flooring types such as carpet, laminate, tile and wood, and it will be out of sight effectively heating your conservatory.
